Do any hams out there on the road use EchoLink or IRLP (digital Internet modes) to chat with others on the road or back to the home QTH?

EchoLink uses radios, PCs or smart phones to communicate, IRLP only allows ham radios to chat. They both use the internet to transfer digital voice.

Here in NE Arizona, we have many summer members in our club. They use EchoLink to check-in to our weekly net during the winter, when they fly  south, too far from our local repeater.

I would like to try Echolink. I have a Kenwood  TM V-71A that has Echolink built in, I just need the cable. I guess I will get the cable and see if I can get it to work with my laptop.

I use Echolink with an app on my android phone.

I use echolink, dstar and 40 meters to contact my friends back home.
