After visiting with Frank & Barb Weimart in Superior, WI for the weekend we left them to head west on our trip.  It has been an interesting trip across Hwy 2 and finding campgrounds of which most were very nice but left something to be desired for electric.  From Minot, ND to Culbertson, MT all campgrounds were filled with construction and oil workers.  Today led to a very different problem.

Ned had called ahead to make a reservation in Cut Bank, MT, for today, but when we got there the park was full.  They referred us to a campground 20 miles further west in Meriwether.  We found it, Meriwether Meadows Campground, and it?s about 4 miles north of US 2 on the Cut Bank river.  The campground was nearly empty and we got a nice grassy, level, site with good 50A electric, no water or sewer, but it?s only for one night, for $20.  On the owner?s property, which is extensive, is the Lewis and Clark Camp Disappointment.  We drove out a track a few miles and found the camp.  It?s located at the bottom of a Buffalo Jump (if you don?t know what that is, try Google).  Capt. Lewis called this northern-most campsite of the expedition ?Camp Disappointment? since this meant the Marias did not reach 50 degrees north latitude.  See the photos below for an idea of what we enjoyed today.  Tomorrow it?s on to the west side of Glacier NP where we?ll spend a few days exploring the park.

Gee, you are only a couple of hundred miles north of us.  Looks like your weather is great too.  We will be heading west on the 11th so possibly we will cross paths if you stay in Glacier long enough.  :)

Hope the trip is going well and you have good weather the rest of the way.

BTW, there are a lot of Buffalo Jumps around, one is about 20 miles west of us near Three Forks and the deli!

Jim, we'll only be at Glacier NP for 3 nights but we'll be around the NW for the next month+ so hopefully we can meet up somewhere.  If you like, I can see that you get an email every time we move so you can know where we are.

Here's a panorama of the whole buffalo jump.
