Anyone tow a truck 4 down?
« on: August 13, 2012, 07:09:00 PM »
I was wondering if any of you tow a truck 4 down without using a disconnect?  If so, what kind of truck?  Are there any out there that can be towed 4 down that are automatics?

I'm sure there are websites that I can find this info, anyone know of one...I'd appreciate it.

We tow a GMC Canyon, 4WD, pickup 4 down with no modifications necessary.  The Chevy Colorado is the same truck with the Chevy badge.  It's automatic with a push button transfer case with neutral.

We flat tow a Dodge Dakota 4x4. It has an automatic and we just put the transfer case in neutral when towing. see:  http://www.rvforum.net/coppermine/displayimage.php?album=40&pid=831#top_display_media  for a photo of our RV and pickup we tow.

Many 4WD automatic models of truck can be towed 4-down without modifications. You can check on individual year/make/models at www.remcotowing.com

2WD drive automatics generally cannot be towed without the use of a drive shaft disconnect.
