California DMV drops online fee
« on: February 26, 2005, 10:43:22 PM »
When I renewed some vehicle registrations online a year or so ago, the CA DMV charged a "convenience fee" for the privilege. When I recently renewed registations online the fees no longer exist. Furthermore, both sets of tags arrived promptly, and the DMV even put them in the same envelope. Maybe Arnold is getting through to some of these folks.

Hopefully Texas will follow suit.  They charge extra for online registration, but it's worth it for the convenience.

I too paid the convenience fee initially, because it was, well, convenient. But it sure rubbed me the wrong way and I complained, as I'm sure lots of others did.
