Raised hitch
« on: September 11, 2012, 04:02:18 AM »
My Winnebago has a hitch about 4 inches too low to tow my Jeep Wrangler with my Blue Ox system. Can't seem to find a hitch to raise it. thoughts?

If you have a 2" receiver on there you should be able to find a ball mount with the lift you need.

Cliffy:

Start with this maybe??
http://www.rvtowingsolutions.com/products-parts-supplies-ball-mounts.php

If you go this way, Please have the Ball Torqued correctly by a qualified Shop.
I torqued (really just tightened with all my might) a Ball assembly to a hitch once, it came off the Hitch while I was towing a 4K Travel trailer.
Wow..... felt a bump, looked in mirrow to see Trailer On two wheels about to go on side. Chains held but damaged was big time.

Good luck

Just check the specs. My brother has one and it lowers the tongue weight rating due to length.

With the blue ox system torquing the ball won't be a problem, Unless he has the "A-Frame" hitch that is.

I will say this though.. Check all the mounting bolts every trip for the first few trips at least.. Mine were put on by the dealer, and I still had missing bolts <5,000 miles later.

We use one of those to raise the tow bar and it seems to work just fine.
