FMCA Indio Rally Jan.9-13

The friendliest place on the web for anyone with an RV or an interest in RVing!
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
We're at In-N-Out having lunch. Who cares about wind ? And NO we didn't have a coupon.

Assuming the parade is on, where do you plan on sitting to watch it?  We're right on the route (next to Gate 6 in the Yellow Lot) and it's cement in front of us if you don't another another place planned.  Ten minutes ago the mountains were clear and now I can't see them again.  The palm trees over by the exhibits look just like the flags - flattened and blowing straight out!

A slight break in the storm clouds over the mountains to the west.

True to his party self, Jeff came  next door to our  coach at 4 pm and announced in lieu of the cancelled  parade the RVForum group would have a happy hour.  (I think he knew  Randy was  was bringing red wine.)  Jerry and Ardra tried to call me but because it is polite to silence your phones during seminars, my  phone took a message. They showed up anyway!  Pat D, still recovering from  a hacking cold, took a nap.  We tried knocking on their door and since there was no answer, we  decided  she needed the rest! Russ declined the phone call invitation citing "he does not feel well enough."Party animals, Ray and  Liza showed up in anticipation of an event and  despite having to wait in their car until something happened, had a good time after a visit to  Randy and Debbie's  RV. No one told us they were next door!

Prior to the Happy hour, Terry and Ken assisted  Chris in getting  TV reception ( despite the fact they  are parked under  a concrete auditorium). They were successful in getting Chris and Mimi TV  but Chris and Mimi need to recover from a series  of recent events in order to attend Happy hour or  dinner out!  I'm sure they will be  100% by  tomorrow!

I have never been to  an RVForum Rally where so many  people in our group  were so sick.  Hacking, coughing aches and fortitude is  the  norm! Barb and Frank were no shows, considering her condition on a drive by visit yesterday that was a good idea. Jerry  F has no symptoms. (yet)  I feel pretty well but the dizzy spells must mean an inner ear something.  Where were  Mike and Wendy and  Bernie and Marlene?  No clues? Probably smart to stay warm in their rigs! Got a cal from Bill and Corinne.  Stay tuned for their visit!

What a rally.  It was 53  degrees during our Happy Hour and yet we had a wonderful time!  Who can tell others about this RV lifestyle?  Wuss by Wuss folks disappeared  to go home for dinner and we will meet up at 6:30 to head for the evening entertainment. No photos from me.  Ya had to be here!

Mike & Wendy didn't know about the HH. So Wendy walked Gordon and Mike took a nap.

I just arrived in Indio, a day behind schedule.  Spent yesterday and this morning at our Mojave transmitter.  It's on the valley floor where Hwy 58 leaves the Tehachapi Mtns, and when I got there at 9 this morning it was 31 degrees and a there was a solid curtain of white at the foot of the Tehachapi canyon.  In spite of a 40-50 MPH wind, as soon as it hit the valley floor it dispersed into nothingness, so at the tower it was clear, cold and windy.  A mile to the west there was snow coming down and on the ground.

Anyway, I have a little work to make up tomorrow morning then I'm available for the rest of Friday and Saturday.  I'm hoping to get a day pass to come to the Rallye on Saturday - do I need a pass to show up for happy hour tomorrow?  Or will there be a Happy Hour tomorrow?

The Alley Cats were a big hit  for entertainment tonight!  The doo-wop music and lyrics were so familiar! Just loved them...

Lou we will likely have  a  Happy hour each evening at 4 pm .

Corinne & I are headed to Cathedral City for a long weekend.  :)  We plan to stop by happy hour tonight.

Bill

Let's hope it warms up this afternoon, it is downright chilly out there this morning.

Sounds like everyone is having fun.  Hopefully you all are warm.  This morning we woke to a couple of inches of snow and it is not getting above the low 40s with the lows down in the mid 20s....burr.  The motorhome is sitting out in front of the house where we are sanding and re-varnishing all the inside wood; having to run the heat just to get the varnish to dry.  This has been a really cold winter.

Keeping my fingers crossed the weather in Quartzsite is warmer.

Marsha~

I missed the Happy Hour today because they called and said they would be here to install out new Windshield at 4pm.
Here are a few pics of RV Glass Solutions installing our new passenger side windshield.

While  Happy Hour was well attended, again we froze our toes! ( and more)  Bill and Corinne showed up a bit late due to traffic  while getting to Indio.  Lou Schneider called and was stuck up on a mountain, but hopes to be in tomorrow. Pat and Debbie showed off their  new  shirts they  got as a "2 for deal."  Ray told how lucky he was to have his F number selected and his winning prize was 40% discount on  something he had just purchased, so he got an $800 credit on his credit card! What luck. Many  Folks are still sniffling, coughing and aching.  I am still well but pacing myself.  Barb and Frank drove in but were so bundled up we hardly recognized them.

Jeff announced a group is going to  Augustine Casino for the  all you can eat Buffet tomorrow Saturday.  I can't recall what time he said to meet by his coach so  folks who want to go can car pool over.  I guess it is a beautiful buffet with seafood,  and prime rib?

Igor's Jazz  Cowboys  entertained us tonight.  They were great combination of Western, Dixie and Swing with a Jazz twist music. The  mandolin was my favorite instrument.

We ran home because it was so cold. 45 degrees.

It was 54 in our coach when we got back from the entertainment. Turns out the guys who did the windshield had a side window open passing equipment in and out and it didn't get shut. Gordon was all curled up in the pillows on the bed.

For those here in Indio who are cold, I'd like to point out that the current temperature in Moab (4:45 MST) is NINE. And at my house in Cortez, the temperature is 11, headed to a predicted low of -12. It's all relative.

Wendy

Yes, cheer up!  It is currently 3? F and tonight is expected to be -8?.  Tomorrow may get to 8 again and a low of -4.  We have been below freezing except for a few days in the low 30s since late November.

Wish we could have made it to cold QZ!    :)

We're sitting in our coach watching the Denver game AND watching the parade out our windshield. Life is good.

Yaaaay Wendy's Broncos!! (So far, anyway ... there is 2 minutes to go)  What a great game!
