Chrysler has announced a stunning 30,000 lb tow capacity for the Ram 3500 diesel. That's even more ( a lot more) than an F450 can boast!  It is powered by a 6.7L Cummins with 850 lb-ft of torque and has a new high strength frame and beefy transmission to handle the load. It will be officially shown at the North American Auto Show in Detroit starting Jan 14.

Hey Gary, you wouldn't know if this is just Dodge's tow rating, or a tow rating based on a real world towing test. I think I heard a while back that mfgrs were suppose to use a predetermined set of test to set the tow rating of all truck.

I think Chrysler is signed up to use the SAE J2807 standard tow ratings, but they may or may not have completed the actual verification testing for this truck.
