I bought a 2000 chevy 3500 4x4 crew 8' bed 454 4.10 rear. 68,000 miles form Ca. Anyone have any history with this beast? How will it pull/tow. we are looking at buying a jayco 32bhds.
We camp lots in Pa. Mi. Oh. but want to go outside that area. how will this thing tow 9000lb?
 
Your truck should have a 13000 lb towing capacity.  You should be fine....granted, it won't pull the hills like a diesel will and the gas mileage won't be great, but it will get the job done.  The low axle ratio is a big help.
 
Im not used to having the truck power band @ 3000 rpm, im told this is a good motor and just put the fuel to it.
 
I have the same truck that I use mainly to pull my 36' GN stock trailer that I custom haul cattle with. I haul mainly from stock yards to off road locations. Places big rigs can't go.
  It passing everything but a gas station. MPG run in the 8-9 range when towing. This truck is used for pulling 100 percent of the time.

I also used several carburator version 454 back  3500 DRW truck pulling commercially (legally) pulling up to 28k combined back in the '70s and '80s.  With proper maintenance the 454 egine will last forever. Pulling at those weights saw 4-6 mpgs with the carburated version.

Just keep in mind the 454 is from a different era with lower power ratings and doesn't compare to the newer gen 8.1 big block or the diesels.


 
I had a black bear tune done to my 454. I hooked a new Jayco 32 DSBH to it 9500 lb, 4 people, a full row of fire wood in the back. 4 bikes and 2 coolers. ran up hwy 79 @ 65-70 miles and hr all the way. This truck is the strongist gas powered truck I ever drove. The Black bear tune makes a big diffrence. 8 miles a gal. This truck is a beast. It came with a set of 5000 lb air bags.
