From what I can find online, PO746 indicates a non-functional Pressure Control Solenoid. You say you have verified that nothing is wrong internally? If so, that would suggest an false error report, meaning an electronic problem with the tranny controller. I don't know enough about it to suggest anything more - it sounds like you have more expertise in this than I do!
