Maiden Voyage!
« on: May 09, 2013, 02:32:24 PM »
At long last, the incessant Minnesota winter seems to be behind us. I've just been able to de-winterize this week; busy checking out where everything is and how it works on our new (used) MH.
Happy to report only minor issues, all resolved.
Short bout of panic when I filled the fresh water tank to sanitize. Water was pouring out the bottom of the chassis. Then I found the open ball valve next to the tank. duh..
Anxious to roll it out this weekend, but it's only for one night at a casino 50 miles away. Need to get back for a big gathering on mothers day.
Oh well.... it's a start.

Hinckley is also my casino of choice, but the Queen wants to go hear Engelbert Humperdink Engeldink Humperbert....  or whatever his name is. I agreed to go as long as blackjack is part of the weekend. Heck... I'd go hear 'Winslow Schmuckley and the Pickled Turnups' if it meant taking the MH out for the weekend.... ;D ;D

Watch out for those casinos! They can suck more cash out of your wallet than a RV ;)

I take a hunnerd bucks and consider it an evenings entertainment. Usually close to breaking even, give or take 20. Watching the people at the tables all stressed out in search of serious cash are part of the evenings entertainment... ;D

We usually put the fridge on propane for 2 days before we leave. Nice and cold when we go. Hope you're having fun for 1 day!

Not true!! We have frost warnings sat. Night through sun. Am! I think those darn Canadians are to blame not us Minnesowtens donchaknow.......
Further update... The MH is performing wonderfully. It's operators on the other hand..........
The queen forgot to pack the pork chops. Was hoping to try out the new portable grill. Then she lost her credit card in the casino. Currently watching a movie with that spiffy surround sound.
We're making a long list of additional permanent items in the hope that pre-trip preparation is not quite so disorganized.
Beautiful evening. I'm so enjoying this!

Enjoy Bob!!

After 2 1/2 years of RVing, I have the loading time cut down to 2 hours.  ;D ;D ;D Seems like the more I get to keep in the RV the more I need to take :-\

I still don't know exactly how that happens.

By the way, when I first started RVing it took about two hours to load out, I must be doing something wrong here! :o

Not just the pork chops. The queen was going to stock the pantry with skillets and cookware from the house, and replace the house stuff with new. She forgot that too! Ever make scrambled eggs in the microwave with a coffee mug?  :o. Shoulda left her at the gas station.....
Another small problem - shower fixture was leaking badly. Would have filled the grey tank in a matter of hours. Dodged another bullet thanks to this forum. Found the replacement cartridge as moen #1222. Quick trip to Lowes. 30 bucks and 15 minutes later had the problem solved.
As I'm typing this, just found out the show has been cancelled. Engelbert is ill.
It can only get better from here!

Bob, call Moen customer service and tell them about your problem.  They won't replace your money, but should send you a replacement that can be a spare or you might be able to return it to Lowes with your original receipt.

Good idea. If I can fanaggle a replacement cartridge from Moen, I'll post it for some other needy soul. A small forum payback.
I also removed the vaccum breaker valve. The increased water pressure was significant.

Returning from Dallas back to Mpls. Back to the land of the living. Rumor has it that the frost warnings are over in mn. Can't wait to take the MH back out someplace.....anyplace. The last week has confirmed that air travel and hotels stink. Need to roll someplace..

Nope...wasn't us Canucks!  Were were havin' it 32 deg C. that week (around 80 deg. F.)  Might have been those "darn Alaskans" sending the cold air in a closed loop.   8) ;D

Alaskans are friendly people and very outgoing.  Hummm, much like Canadians! 8) 8) :)

My friend in Minnesota said you guys had a wicked winter (and Spring) this year. Some bad storms, I guess.  He's used to it though.  Lives near Minneapolis-St. Paul.

Actually, this winter was like the winters we had in the 60's.  It's just the young are too young to remember and we old ones just can't remember.  April did set records for snow fall amounts and we still had ice on lakes for opening fishing week end, but otherwise life is normal.  That is if I can remember what normal is.
