Have an early 80's Pace Arrow with the Chev 454.
Downloaded the Chev CHASSIS manual. WOW...lots of good information there!
First, GM recommends RV coach builders fabricate an air 'scoop' between behind the grille opening and the radiator. Most do not do this!
I did that and it made a 100% difference. I made templates from cardboard, then purchased three heavy plastic mud flaps from a local trucking repair shop.

Next GM recommends an air diverter placed on the right hand frame along side the engine. This forces more cool air along the right side of the exhaust manifold. Prevents the usual right manifold cracking problem.
