I thought you might like to know that we have 20 RVs with 40 people at this rally.  We miss those who had to cancel at the last minute for medical reasons.  Of course that hasn't stopped us from talking about you!  ;D

We were pleased that we changed the Delicate Arch hike to 8:00u
I still never cease to be amazed at the number of people who go hiking without a hat, water, sunblock, or appropriate shoes.  I'll bet a lot of people we saw today are going to have painful sunburns tomorrow.  Also, we noticed way too many footprints in the fragile cryptobiotic crust - I wish people would stay on the trails and help preserve this wonderful place for future generations!

ArdraF

Also amazing how many people are able to walk to the arch, hundreds... all sizes, shapes and ages.  It's not a trivial hike, not technically difficult but not trivial.  Very popular for mid May on a school day.

Here are a few pics under the arch today. Left to right, Don, MaryAnn, Betty, and Ardra.

Great shots Chip.  Thank  you for taking those!  How you managed to not capture the  10,000 French speaking tourists around us, I'll never know!

Christi and I were looking for something else and stumbled back into Needles Overlook. Looking across the valley it looked very familiar, like part of the Chicken Corners Run yesterday from a much different vantage point...could have been the heat...but I swore I saw Henry in the middle of the road with the door flung open taking pictures...

I captured a few shots of the concert from last night.  It was such a perfect evening  complete with our very own Diva,  Tara, dancers and our  photographer, Ron.  Note how pretty the RV Park is down in the new section!

Delicate Arch.  Despite having been to Moab for years and years, today was my first hike to Delicate Arch.  I think  I was planning talent shows or some such thing  in the past when others went.  Such a thrill to round that  mountainside and see that Arch with the snow covered mountains in the background.  It literally took away my breath.  I also listened to the screams of  glee when little children saw the same sight!

The  photos I took are self explanatory of the folks on the  trip. It was Tara's first hike  ever!  Some nice French tourist took this group shot with my camera.  Take your pic of which one is best I could not decide so I've posted them both!

Good day!  5 pm happy hour!

Today Henry got Shanghaied onto "Hells Revenge".  He got through in fine style and was heard to comment "this is like a Texas farm road".  ;)

9:00 am Dome Plateau Off Road ride

NEWS

Five o'clock Happy Hour worked so well today.  Henry  liked it because he does not have to  start drinking so early in the day!

The group welcomed newly arrived friends Phil and Doris.  Less of Phil this year as he has lost  much weight and looked terrific.  So does Doris.

Ernie and Tara are having a Happy 13th Anniversary and we toasted them. Off to Jefferies for an evening of fine dining!

Sorry I did not know until after Happy hour but new members Fred and Virgie are leaving in the morning. This was their first RV trip and they promised  a return.  The  walked into town today and on the  way home were picked up by Aussie's,  Olga and Jan.  They are off to  Las Vega and then back home to Texas.

Bill is driving to Grand Junction tonight to pick up Corrine who is flying in from California. He made a reservation for her to join Ladies luncheon.  Bless his heart.

I heard Steve  is joining 4 wheel drive group as a passenger tomorrow while Dee  opted to join shopping and ladies luncheon.  Thai food will be new and so will 4 wheeling.  We see a Jeep in Steve's future!

Dinner in is still cooking so I have time to post  Awards from Wednesday May 15, 2013.

Mike presented CAre Bear to Frank who he thinks actually deserved it last night but Frank  was not at Happy Hour.  Seems Frank offered water to a  bicyclist ( dressing  in Lance Armstrong type gear)  who had run out of water in this hot day.  Frank  accepted with  humility!

Larry earned Happy Face for making ladies day last evening when he asked  us to dance. He is a good dancer and  we hope Loretta is on the mend!

Terry won Goofy award for directing the  off road group on the WRONG run today.  He steered them into a much more difficult run than was planned. Henry loved it as did Gary who rode with Terry and was glad he did not subject his Jeep to the torture! Terry  mentioned in his acceptance  speech that he had won that award many times.  He offered that those who won the most awards got a free week at Portal RV.  Not many were buying his story!
