Our Great Western Adventure Has Begun!
« on: May 27, 2013, 10:49:45 AM »
We are on the road! Left SC last Tuesday and drove up to Mocksville, NC to have MagnaShade installed, then started down I-40 for trip to Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Rushmore, etc. First stop for over night was at Bean Pot cg outside Knoxville, then onto Hurricane Mills, TN, spending holiday at Loretta Lynn's Ranch. Tomorrow we head to Diamond Crater State Park in Arkansas. Having the adventure of a lifetime!  ;D

Crater of Diamonds State Park is a gem (  8) )! It is not uncommon to scratch up a diamond or two, especially after a rain, so don't short change yourself and miss that! Old Washington nearby is another keeper for a day trip!

Arkansas has some great state parks and some great COE parks, too! Enjoy your stay in the Natural State!

You may be a little early for the Rockies!  We went to Denver in early July and found 5 feet of snow on the picnic tables in Indian Peaks Rec area - at 10,000 feet.
Some passes may be closed, check ahead.

Pay attention to the weather, the only time the passes for the Interstates/Major Highways would be closed would be if a major storm is going on or just passed. Other than that, be prepared to see some snow!
