Hello,

DH and I are looking forward to visiting Yellowstone this Fall. Need information on difficulty of finding campgrounds after Labor Day. And how long after Labor Day will we find it less crowded? We will be in the area for atleast two weeks. Will definitely be visiting the Yellowstone Bookstore. ;-)

Thank you so much.

Linda

We have been to Yellowstone a dozen times over the years, although not last year. Yes, it is less crowded after Labor Day. In fact we have even gotten in for Labor Day without making reservations more than a week in advance. However, some of the campgrounds, close down soon after Labor Day or in the first two weeks of September. This webpage shows the projected closing dates for the campgrounds this year. Some of the Forest Service campgrounds outside the park also start to close by mid-September.

A little belated, but thanks for the reply. We thought about staying at Fishing Bridge but reviews are so mixed we're undecided. Will most likely stay at Yellowstone Valley Inn about 30 miles away. We're combining a business and pleasure trip.

Stonesriver,

I'm guessing that Yellowstone Valley Inn is 30 miles from the entrance to Yellowstone. The entrance is 27 miles from Fishing Bridge. It will be quite a commute to get to most things in the park!
