Tomorrow we'll be hiking the Emerald Pools trail which is quite nice with Lower, Middle, and Upper Emerald Pools.  We'll meet in the Visitor Center at 9:00 a.m.  We'd like to go later but the parking lot was filled this morning and some of us parked outside the park entrance.  Bring water, a lunch, and wear sturdy shoes.  The first part of the trail is pretty easy but the upper part is more rocky, hence the need for good footwear.

By the way, you cannot buy bottled water in Zion N.P.  You can buy water holders and then fill them at various water stations.  This is in keeping with their policy to encourage less plastic usage.

Thank you Kim for your 5/3/2014 Happy Hour  photo report.  If you don't hear lots of information from those of us attending this Hop Rally, know that the cell phone service and any internet service is  very limited.
Today many of us  rode the Zion shuttle car to end of the park and some hiked at end.  Margaret commented happily that  Jan fixed their lunch today  as a favor for the carpool.  Tomorrow the group will go in a couple of directions.  Newbies to  Zion will hike the Emerald Pools while  others  will do a  Jeep trip up a Canyon I  forget the name of. ( I hope we are not leading!) We will pack a lunch,  bring chairs and leave at 11 am  You got that right ... what a civilized time to go on a trip!

Some of us ate at a lovely Thai restaurant for lunch Thai Sapa.  Yum! We have not yet seen Christi as she is sick and  we've not seen much of TerryBrewer either as the crud of a cold has overtaken his system.

A couple of pics....

@Ernie and Tara -- Testifying to the micro-rally -- we were there!  What a pleasant surprise when Tara came a knocking!  Nice visit....

@Zion Hop Skip -- In the Page Lake Powell campground waiting for someone else to be the first to break the Sunday morning peace so we can get going.

See you all later today!

A group of us will be hiking "The Narrows" early tomorrow morning as the river is manageable this year.  Think about if you might be interested, as we are going to the outfitters this afternoon between 4 and 6 to pick up the gear for the hike.

Sheila

Margaret and I will be taking on the Narrows ourselves. Couple of pics from yesterday.

We had a great time hiking to the Emerald Pools with The group this morning. They called it an easy hike, but we are not so sure that is a correct classification.  Now ready for happy hour!

So many things to do, so little time.  After the car tour through the  forest today, we have to figure out how to have Happy hour, get to the outfitters in Zion to rent our gear for the river walk tomorrow, get coffee at the market, confirm dinner reservations and get back in time to see the  movie Captain Phillips at the  Social Hall here at the park. Oh yeah and have dinner.  Life is rich and full!  What fun we had today and Jan redefines the statement that S**T happens.  You had to be there!

We see Don and  Mary Ann's rig but they are missing  with their  car.

You are right Betty. I step in to pig sh.t. But that should not give Sheila and Olga right to blame my shoes to smell in car. I can tell the difference when I smell ladies fart and when I smell pig sh.t.

You know you're partying when your stepping in pig doo...  :)

A bunch of people are helping Terry celebrate his birthday today in the Zion River Narrows.  They rented neoprene pants, shoes, and walking sticks.  Hopefully none are getting too wet!

The group isn't back yet, so I'll answer about dinner.  I think the time is 7:00 p.m. at the Switchback steakhouse and grill in Springdale.  It's on the right side of the road at the end of town nearest the Zion River Resort.  I'm sure Betty will provide more details at happy hour!

ArdraF

Ardra,

Dinner is at 5:30. We are leaving here about 5:00.
Switchback on the right going into town from here.
