I am not sure if this is an issue but when I depress my brake pedal (or even just rest my foot on it lightly) it makes a whistling noise. Is that normal? The brakes themselves seem to be working correctly, but the pedal does appear to have quite a bit of travel to it. I am not familiar with the system on this vehicle and wondered perhaps if there was something particular that would cause this whistling.

Do you have air brakes or juice brakes? Air brakes, probably an air leak, juice brakes, probably air in hydro-boost system. Hydro-boost uses hydraulic pressure, from either power steering pump or dedicated pump to provide power assist.
