I just picked this up on one of the national TV news networks.  Anyone heading to Banff or planning to head to Alaska via Banff will need to check with local Tourist Bureaus.  They are saying the flooding should clear in the next day or so, barring further rain.

The Transcanada opened again today but it is one lane in each direction with a maximum speed of 60km/h.

The best and most consistent information I have found so far is on the official Banff National Park Facebook page.  The park's website tells people to go to the FB page for the most up to the minute information about road closures particularly along the Banff-Canmore-Calgary route.  Be sure you go to the official National Park RB page and not the Banff tourism page that also pops up.

The most complete road picture is obtained at the website of the AMA (AAA) (including the Twitter posts in that site).. www.amaroadreports.ca  OR by calling 511.

All roads in and through Banff National Park are now open but it still is strongly recommended to stay away, not easy for us this hot Canada Day long weekend!

All of Kananaskis and the #40 is still closed.

Hope this helps someone with their planning.
