Hello everyone I'm looking for a 5Th wheel bunkhouse with a open floor plan that has a thermal package or double pane windows because my wife and my 5 month son and I will be living in it full time in Colorado. Do you have any ideas or recommendations of a good trailer that will fit our needs, and at lest 35ft
Thanks butch

Even RV's well prepared for winter weather are not all that great against the cold due to the thickness (or lack thereof) of the walls, floors and ceiling.

No matter which brand/make you choose, you will need to take extra measures to insulate it. Skirting around the bottom helps a lot, but it should have some insulative qualities as well. I'm sure there are those with experience that can offer more than I can, but having done some winter camping I know that by itself and without additional measures, any RV, TT, or 5r will not be as comfy as you might prefer without a substantial amount of heat generated inside. Propane will be used up rather quickly and an electric heater will be working overtime just to keep up in weather like Colorado experiences during the winter months.

Where in Colorado? On the plains or along the Front Range is one thing. In the high country is a different animal entirely. In either case, I suspect you're in for a cold time, even on the plains. Can't help with a choice of rig, though -- sorry.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynwHHSsdkpk I don't think I put this link in right. So here you can copy and paste it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynwHHSsdkpk  I know nothing much about rving much less winter rving. However, your questions interested me so I went to utube and searched for winter rving. This guy in this video describes some of his problems.  One example, he lost his refrigerator because he didn't know he needed to have a winter kit for it.  I'm thinking it's maybe not the best video for you but to be aware of his problems might enable you to prevent problems for you.  He sounded like he had a rough time of it! I do like his choice of underpinning for his rv. He used that light weight stuff with tape. He shows the outside of his motor home. At first the video seems quite slow but as you follow it you might pick up several ideas! Again another example is he tried to keep the snow from building up on his slide outs. I can see where this would be very important.

I am very sure I won't be doing any winters in an rv like this! I was thinking of late fall only!

Good luck!  I do see in my preview the link might have worked!

Thank you very much those YouTube videos were very helpful and full of great ideas.

You might want to look at Arctic Fox Brand.  I  have heard good things about them.
