Morning-not sure if I am posting this question in the right place.I'm sure it will be moved it not.
02 Jeep Wrangler-My engine is the straight six with an automatic transmission.90,000 mi.Sometimes when I start the motor the RPM's will spike to about 2,000 RMP's for a second or two then return to normal idle.Is this a problem ?
Any suggestions ?
As always-thanks for your help.
Jeff

It's not normal, but not uncommon, either.  Try cleaning or replacing the IAC (idle air controller) mounted on the side of the intake.  Just remove it an spray with a bit of WD-40 of silicon spray.  If that doesn't help, you may have a vacuum leak or an oxygen sensor on the fritz.
