Hiya gang -
So - I am about to install two DM158 monocrystalline solar panels panels on my roof through a 30amp PWM controller to a bank of three brand new group 29 deep cycle bats in parallel with 4 gauge cables using a 10 gauge specailty PV wire(tho I am strongly considering splurging on a thicker gauge wire for this).
Question(s) is(are) - I have read that some folks install in line fuses, some install junction boxes some install disconnect switches etc. some diagrams/instructions/walkthrus don't mention these at all and just run cable from the panels to the controller and to the bats. Opinions on what I should do? Are all of these or some of them important? If so - what gauge wire should I use on say the in-line fuse? I have only ever seen them for sale in the 16 gauge wire range for rv/auto/marine accessories. Also - a more general systems question... Installing this solar charging directly to the battery, say I am plugged into shore power or the genny is rumbling...are the batteries not being bombarded with charge from every angle? Is this ok?
