Planning a 3-4 trip there next week.  Anyone been there and which campground did you like best?  Good hiking? Thanks

Great hiking. We like Jumbo Rocks Campground but I think it's closed right now. The biggest campgrounds are Indian Cove and Black Rock, on the north side of the park. It's a beautiful park with lots to do. Enjoy.

BTW, the coldest we have EVER been in our motorhome was at Jumbo Rocks one January when the temperature dropped to 8 degrees and our heater quit working.

I have to agree with Wendy and Tom....Jumbo Rocks.....straight out of the Flingstones.  ;)

Thanks so much for responses.  Looks like we will have to make another trip after this one to experience Jumbo Rocks campground.  :D

The road into the Indian Cove campgrounds is a spur that does not go through the remainder of the park.  It is a popular spot especially for camping but will will only introduce you to a small portion of the park.  There is a loop that runs from the east side of 29 Palms through the park to the town of Joshua Tree.  Take a drive through it if you can and stop at the roadside markers.  Also keep an eye out for rock climbers.  It's a very popular spot with them this time of the year.

The joshua trees look like something out of another world at night don't miss it.  And finally there is a very interesting astronomy center near the 29 Palms entrance.

Jumbo Rocks campground in Joshua Trees opened this past Monday.  Very great campground.  Drove to many of the other campsites and this was the favorite for both of us. Perfect weather, 50s at night and 70s days.  BTW, they have beautiful coffee mugs at the centers for purchase.  Had to have one.
:D

Great....happy to hear that they opened Jumbo Rocks CG just in time for your arrival.  A fun place for young and old.

Glad to hear Jumbo Rocks is open and that you joined the rest of us in thinking it's the best. But don't tell anyone else, we want to keep our favorite fishing hole a secret :)
