Following our first Fall concert, the Delta Strummers ukulele band has begun practicing for 3 holiday season concerts. The Maestro worked us hard at last night's practice, and is creatively mixing things up and rearranging music on the fly. It never fails to amaze me how he does this stuff. I'll observe him think for a couple of seconds, then he'll say "let's try this", and I'll think he's nuts; After we try it, I'm usually pleasantly surprised with the result.
Knowing how the Maestro mixes things up, a couple of us took our banjo ukuleles along last night. When he said "let's try banjoukes on this one", a number of folks in the band said "you can't do that". But the result sounded great!
Maybe next year I'll get to play my big banjo with the group ??? Time to blow the dust off and get practicing.
