At last, home for the winter in St Petersburg Fl. went fishing with a buddy yesterday. Never have we seen so many Mullet on an incoming tide. Thankfully reds and others follow. Caught a lot of small reds and jacks but at last a 6 lbs. sheepshead! Good eating tonight!!

Sheepsheads bring back memories of my scuba diving days in the 80 off the California coast at the Channel Islands National Park. I used to dive for lobster and abalone almost every weekend. My wife wanted fish to eat so I bought a pneumatic spear gun and most weekends I shot a sheepshead or two just to keep the peace in the family. One fine day I was out hunting for sheepheads and I shot one. I set my goodie bag down on the sea floor and started to remove the fish from the line. While the goodie bag was laying there another sheepshead shows up and swims inside the bag. It is like he committed suicide. Now that is a dumb fish.
