I had someone in trailer and they said as soon as I raised the tailgate we lost lights, pops fuse as soon as putting new one in.. It's a 48 gooseneck garage in rear living up front lost all 12v lights every thing else works,  should I start by pulling lights of the fixtures in garage

I'd check that the door didn't pinch a wire and short it to ground. Past that look for the power source and trace the wiring  outward from the battery or other power source. It could come to isolating individual lights until the culprit is identified.

Do I assume correctly you are referring to the tailgate of the trailer and not the truck??

Either way,  you have most likely pinched a wire while closing the gate and it is now shorted to the trailer/truck frame. Find that, fix the broken/shaved wire, place the wiring harness so it cannot get pinched again, replace the fuse and you should be good to go!!!
