So yesterday I noticed one of my nylon strings was about the break so I restrung and polished my crossover. I then change out my steel string guitar, (dead string) and thought "what the hay, may as well do the other too". I got out the last one and changed out the nylons on it, (cedar top).

All three now have brilliant sounding new strings. Two with D' Addario and one with JohnPearce

Aye, new strings can make a big difference.

Also, I've noticed a big difference when changing from el cheapo strings to a good brand. Some cheap ukes come with awful GHS strings, and changing to Aquila nylgut strings can make a cheap uke sound better. But, you still can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
