Mini Rally at Eagle Cliff Campground in scenic SE Minnesota Bluff County

Dates:          May 27 ? May 30, 2014.  Some people are coming earlier in the week and some staying later.

Location:     Eagle Cliff Campground.  Three miles east of Lanesboro, Minnesota
So far it looks like most of us are staying in Area B of the campground.

  Reservations: http://www.eagle-cliff.com/
When you make reservations please post the dates and your campsite on this thread. It would be nice to keep
track of the RV forum members and give you updates as we get closer to the date. (Note:  You might have to click
the word SKIP if it shows up on the upper right hand corner of your screen.  You might also have to turn off your
                        pop-up blockers.)

  Phone:         507-467-2598
The campground is closed until April 1 however the office is open on Tuesdays and Thursday until the Campground
officially reopens for the season.  This is a Passport America campground so you might want to check with the
owners about the PA discount rates.

This will be a very casual rally.  There are lots of attractions in the area.  See the list and links below:

Area attractions:
  □ Hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing, and horseback riding along the Root River Trail.
  □ National trout center and fly fishing ? three blue-ribbon trout streams
  □ Amish Tours and Amish farms and buggies along country roads
  □ Mystery Cave and Niagara Cave- stalactites, stalagmites, and underground pools.
  □ Historic sites including ghost towns and old cemeteries (Zumbro Hills Cemetery)
  □ Scenic trials and byways
  □ Arts, entertainment, and shopping in Lanesboro (Arsenic and Old Lace at Commonweal Theatre)

Eagle Cliff does respond quickly to email. You can use the contact form from the web site or email [email protected] with any questions.  Online reservations are charged to a credit card for one night, and for Passport America, you will pay the balance due in cash at check in.

That's 4, better hurry Jeff, before the sites are all gone :D

Thought I had posted this but Sue and I will arrive 5/27 and depart 5/30. We are spending Memorial day with Sue's niece and her son over in Waseca.

Does five coaches make this enough to change the name to a RV Forum Rally instead of a mini rally?

Jeff, great, looking forward to seeing you both.

It looks like there are still a few more sites available in Section B at Eagle Cliff Campground so sign up now if you want to join us.

This will be our maiden voyage and we are so excited!  Husband is especially happy because he just discovered that I reserved a pull thru site.  We have learned so much from the experts on this forum and we still have a lot to learn.  Eric is printing our a forum checklist as I type this post.

Now we need advice on how to host a happy hour.  Originally we had planned to host a happy hour on Tuesday, May 27 at 4 PM  however I just noticed that check- in time isn't until 3 PM so that's not a good plan.  Instead we would like to host a happy hour at 5 PM on Wednesday, May 28. to celebrate the beginning of our new adventures.  So I'm fretting about whether happy hours are passe',  how do we let people know about the happy hour, how many will show up, what to serve, etc., etc.  Eric (husband) says we just need to make sure we have a cooler full of beer.  Hmmm?  One of us is a Type A personality and the other a selfprofessed Type B- if there is such a thing.  You can guess which one is what.

At any rate we would love your input on RV happy hour traditions.  If nothing else you are welcome to join us anytime at campsite B-10 for a good chuckle while you watch the newbies try to figure out how the stuff on their new TT works.  (I'd better be a quick study because the following week I am taking the TT by myself to stay in while I complete my internship near Madison, WI.)

Looking forward to meeting you!

Max, Max, Max, just listen to your husband.  A few crackers, lunch meat, cheese and a big cooler of beer.  You will have the whole campground at your door.

Nearly all of the RVing happy hours we have attended over the (many) years have been "bring your own" affairs.  The host lets everyone know time and place and provides their own beverage and a snack to share.  The guests bring chairs, whatever they wish to drink (hard or soft), and also bring a snack to share.  Relax, Max, and just let it happen.  ;D ;D ;D

What Margi said.  All you have to do is announce day, time and place.  Almost every RV Happy Hour I've attended is bring your own chair, beverage and maybe a snack to share with group.  If it is a big group and Happy hours are going to be  every day at 4:30 sometimes we leave our chairs at your place.  Not everyone has to bring something everyday.  It's all about the company and getting to know new friends.

Wish we could be there! but we are Happy in South Dakota today.

Happy hour Tuesday will be sitting around watching the rest arrive. We plan on arriving well before 3:00PM, hope they have room for us to park. ::)

One of our favorite pastimes is watching other people arrive and get set up. My sister joined us one year in Death Valley and she couldn't understand the fun in watching others set up. Obviously not an RVer :)

As for Happy Hour, just yell "Happy Hour" and they will come.

As others have mentioned, "hosting" a happy hour with this group does not mean providing the refreshments (unless Ned has a bottle of good scotch), just providing a place to gather. Just try to outdo the other ladies with your favorite Hors d'oeuvre.  8)

We'll be there on Monday, so Tuesday is good for us :)  Happy hours typically start about 4:00pm so you had that right.  We'll be right next door so we can start whenever we like.

I'll have some cheap, but good, scotch.  Jeff should bring the really good stuff :D

So I'm fretting about whether happy hours are passe',  how do we let people know about the happy hour, how many will show up, what to serve, etc., etc.  Eric (husband) says we just need to make sure we have a cooler full of beer.  Hmmm?

Max, the first thing to do is to stop fretting.  Happy hours are definitely not pass? with the RV Forum!  We always have them, even when we're so cold it could freeze a witch's nose.  Just announce here where and when and it will happen.  We always bring our own drinks so you do not have to provide even the cooler of beer.  Some days I take a snack and other days I don't.  It depends somewhat on what we did that day and what got defrosted or what we remembered (or forgot) to bring.  Sometimes we girls decide that one day the happy hour will be dinner and we go all out with good snacks that substitute for a real meal.  Maybe that's where Jeff got the idea that we all need to bring good Hors d'oeuvres!  ;)  Anyway, all you have to provide is the site and, as the others said, they will come.  Relax and have fun at your first rally!

Ok, we'll be there by 4 PM for your viewing entertainment.  I'm not a scotch drinker but I might become one.  See you soon.

Max, the CG will be quiet on Tues, and it is ok to arrive early.
