Everywhere - my home is where I park it.
Recently did a trip to San Felipe for 9 days.  Stayed at a old resort called Petes Camp right about 140 miles south of Mexicali.  You can camp right on the beach (hard surface) without hook ups.  We were able to park parallel to the ocean (Sea of Cortez) and watch the sun come up over the water every day.  There is a restaurant there with a bar, and only about ten miles from downtown San Felipe where we bought fresh blue shrimp.  The tide goes out almost a mile, so you can walk out and go clamming.  We got enough for a full meal (steamed clams) and alot for take home (sssssh).  Approx. 30 percent of the people there are Americans, either snowbirding it, or permantly living there, and theyall seem to be loving it!

For more info, Petes Camp can easily be found online and reservations and payments are made through Temecula, California.  Weather was wonderful, like nice spring weather, although summers are hot.  We trailered the Jeep there so we had to pay for two campsite at $15.00 each.  Feel free to post up with questions, we could even talk after that.  I highly recommend it for a winter trip.  Bob

I note this is an old post but I have a question either the OP can answer or someone else.

What does one do for fresh water in the RV and for dumping the tanks at a place such as Pete's Camp?

I think what a lot of people do is use bottled water for drinking and cooking.  The water from the CG going into your fresh water tank, use a filter and then add a little bleach each time you fill up the tank.  You only use your fresh water tank for showers, washing dishes etc.

There are no hookups on the beach at Pete's Camp.  We always use bottled water for drinking, and we brought all we needed from the USA.  They do have a dump station up above the office.

I will say this. The whole trip was so relaxing.  You should also bring plenty of firewood for fires on the beach.  Whatever you don't use, you can take back through customs as long as you tell them you brought it from home.

We went in late February and the weather was perfect in every way.  Also, there are many, many, many retired Americans that live down there.  They are all friendly and so are the locals.

You will have to go throught the Federalies check point about 100 miles south of the border, and the will check your drawers and cabinets, but they are very respectful and polite.  Not a big deal.  Just don't take any guns or ammo in to the country.  They will lock you up instantly, and down there, you are guilty until proven innocent.

It is also very acceptable to pay your traffic fines to the issuing Officer, or so I have been told..

You have to make your reservations in the USA.  Check their website for details.  Enjoy!

Actually it's not acceptable to pay the officer any fines on the spot.

Force them to escort you to a local judge to pay any fine. Insist on it.
Even if you're full on guilty.....do not pay the officer on the spot.
More often than not, the officer will just let you go along your way with a warning
if it's just a minor traffic infraction.

Paying on the spot is highly frowned on, as it promotes "mordida" (bribes)
In some parts of Baja, stopping tourists is a clandestine industry in itself.
The cops are paid low low wages and if they can "clip" a few tourists everyday,
it supplements their incomes.
Make them do the right thing.......with as much respect as you can muster.

Sure it's easier and all that......hand over some greenbacks and your on your way.
Those greenbacks will never go to the local delegation.
I know this because I have lived 600 miles below San Felipe for 16 years.

No one would offer a CHP officer or a AZ State trooper a $100 bill under your license to let you off the hook.
Please don't do it in Mexico either.

And make sure you visit Sanborn's to get vehicle insurance BEFORE going into Mexico.  They're near most border crossings.

If you're still there Jeepinbob... (or anyone else who might know.) Years ago, we RV'd down to Pete's Camp quite a bit - stopped for a number of reasons, but lately, we were considering going again. How's access for big rigs? We're 43 feet long and towing. I don't mind paying for a place to park the Jeep, but I was wondering if the campsites were big rig compatible.
