Yes, They finally gave out.  I took the gearbox and motor off which was pretty easy.  After disassembling the thing I find that the main gear is chewed up, so off to Google. (which always brings me to this site).  I find that since 2010 you have to replace the gearbox and motor (and later discovered the connector to the motor, but that is another story).  I found the new motor and the new gearbox on Amazon the thought I had this solved, but no.
They came in two separate pieces which brings me to my question.  The gearbox came with two washers taped to it???? Not a shred of paperwork with either item.  I am not sure where they go or if i need these washers.  They seem to be the right size for the smaller gears shaft and the motor shaft, but not sure if one goes on each side of the gear or if they are even required.  If anyone has disassembled one of these lately and has seen the mysterious washers I would sure love to know where they go.
