Today 30 of our nearly 50 Delta Strummers turned out to play & sing for the Mothers Day luncheon of the Discovery Bay Branch 161 of SIR (Sons In Retirement), our local retired guys club. The 150 or so diners appeared appreciative of the entertainment.
The program included 6 Hawaiian numbers (4 of them with a hula), several Vaudeville numbers, and a variety of others. We closed out the program with God Bless America, which happens to be what we normally close our SIR luncheons with. Someone came up to me afterwards and said "that's the best version of God Bless America I've ever heard".
I ate lunch with Chris in the audience, and joined the band for the performance. Chris hadn't seen/heard us perform for some time, and her reaction was emphatically "you've improved so much since I last listened to the band".
Back to practice for our next performances, then switch gears for our winter concerts.
