We have started a new and exciting year, however I am really behind on this blog. We left Texas April 31,2014 after staying at Sunset Shores in Willis. Tx. for a month visiting family and mostly me fishing. We left and headed to Red Bay, Alabama to have service work and re-calls repairs on our rig. Spent 18 days at the service center. That a whole different story.
After leaving Red Bay, we encountered hail, wind, snow and mechanical problems. Had hail damage in the Panhandle of Texas, lost a topper awning in New Mexico and also drove thru a blizzard. In Texas anything over a few flakes is a blizzard.

04-27-14 Visited the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest in Holbrook, Az. Here is a few pics of both

05-21-14  This is the first time we have been stranded in our Rig. Coming into  Ely, Nv. after leaving Moab we lost out belt on the engine. After calling Good Sam's road service about 3 hours later a truck was dispatched and arrived to tow us the 40 miles to Ely.
Spent 4 days there trying to get a belt shipped to us. Finally fixed it myself after buying 8 assorted sizes from Napa. No one could tell me the belt routing on the engine. All they could do is suggest sizes.

We left Trinidad, Ca after staying at the Sound of the Sea Rv park. We headed for Oregon. We lucked out and found a spot in Harris Beach State Park in Brookings, Or. If you ever book here ask for site A-20. Picture attached of the view from that spot.
I have finally caught up with myself. Now if I can just keep up. Having to much fun and to many things and places to see.

North to South I think it must be a longer trip. We are leaving Brookings today and heading to Gold Beach about 29 miles down the road. Think we might do Jerry's Jet Boat ride up the Rogue river in the next few days.
Does anyone have any suggestions on camping in State Parks heading North? Maybe even a nice RV park off the beaten path.

We've got reservations at Sunset Bay State Park near Coos Bay in July. It is on the ocean and has electric and water hook ups. I/we've never been there yet, so I can't say whether it will be worth the visit.

Thanks John, I might can give you a report on Sunset Bay since we will be in the area next week. If you come through Brookings Harris Beach State Park will be hard to beat.

Henry,
Don't miss Jerry's jet boat. take the long trip -

John, Sunset Bay campground isn't actually on the ocean - but it's close to the bay and it's beach.

You guys are touring our favorite area. We'll get there later this summer. We love the Oregon Coast.

ken

Stop in a visitor center and pick up a off road sticker. About 10 bucks for 2 years. Fine is $80 if you get caught without one. Some nice off roading up in Oregon and Washington.

Do get a ice cream in Tillamook, free for veterans.  Also the air museum. Nice Pics, keep them coming. We will be heading that way end of summer.

Stop at Mo's in either Florence or Lincoln City if you like clam chowder and fresh oysters at the end of the spit in Winchester Bay.  While at Sunset Bay take in the gardens at Shore Acres, the site of the former mansion of the Simpson lumber family.

Thanks everyone for thr information, we will be boarding Jerry's jet boat in about 2 hours for thr 104 mile River trip. We are staying about 7 miles out on the Rouge River at Four Seasons RV Resort. Parked 25 feet from the River. I will post a few pics when we get back.

Good to talk to you today.  Glad you're having a ball out there.  Wish we were there to share in the fun.
We meet Frank & Barb in Olathe KS for July 4.  Looking forward to our Karen meeting their Karen.  It should
be fun.  Our Karen loves to host parties, and that's what she will be doing July 4.

Be safe.  See you soon.
