  My little trivia story is meant for the scientifically oriented readers.

A little US history from Nov. 6/1971.  Don't read it if you don't like A-Bombs.

To find Amchitka, AK,just go to BING maps to find it and select Bird's Eye view; not much there to see.

When I was a kid we got up around 3 am a couple of times to watch a nuclear bomb test in Yucca Flat, NV.  B/W TV, of course, as this was mid-fifties.  It was "flash!" and back to bed.  :)
 
And the ocean floor had a permanent 4 to 5 foot lift.  Of course none of these tests did anything to fault lines or might have disturbed areas that created earthquakes.  I remember hearing about these tests in Nevada and seems like always within months they had an earthquake in California, of course no connection. Yeah, right.
