I keep getting the message a plugin is required but it won't tell me which on. I use firefox.
Any ideas on how to find out what plugin I need?

What are you trying to do when you get that message? Quicktime and Flash are two (of many) possible plug-ins that might trigger that message if they're not installed.

The plugin requires depends on exactly what type of media you're trying to display. What is the URL you clicked on for the media?

The site is
http://www.daichcoatings.com/daich_commercial.html
it is just above we follow through.

I can display the page in Chrome and the element is just a simple slideshow, created with Javascript.  I have no idea what plugin Firefox would need to display it.

Carson here...  The URL works fine on my FF 30.0.

I probably have JAVA .
Check out the FF Java plug-in download here.  >>> http://isearch.avg.com/search?q=firefox%20java%20plugin&pid=avg&sg=0&cid={03c34372-01ec-4e45-8215-28a68e8796a0}&mid=32c7c4e6e774539795817be8bcfa27ae-345359f0800e1d8e74555d347a9ac4de14d9b81d&ds=AVG&coid=&cmpid=&v=18.1.7.644&lang=en&pr=fr&d=2012-09-27%2008%3A44%3A22&sap=tr&snd=hp&sap_acp=0

  Just my thoughts... no guarantee.

Because of the many security problems with Java, I strongly recommend against installing Java in any browser.  Also, this web site doesn't need Java as I could display the slideshow in Chrome and I do not have Java installed on my system, and Chrome doesn't have it either.

I get the "plug-in required" message as well using FF 30.0, so there is something needed. And it's not Java, cause I have that (I use a Java app at times). However, it works with Chrome and IE 11 on the same system.

I've never before seen a "plug-in" message that did not include the id of the plug-in and an offer to download it.

It's quite likely bad coding on the web page that's confusing Firefox into thinking a plugin is needed.  As far as I can tell, it doesn't need any plugin, just uses Javascript.  That page element references a file on the same server and if I go to that page directly, it displays correctly in Firefox.  Here's the URL: http://www.daichcoatings.com/commercial_benefits/comm_benefits.html
