Tekonsha Prodigy shows NC, (no connection), when connected

The 4 year old Prodigy is now showing NC whenever connected to the trailer 7 pin connector. I can't find any break in the trailer wires ( 4 electric brakes) and my DVM shows continuity through all the trailer brakes.

With Prodigy boost at max, I get 5 volts at the connector outputs.

Anybody have an idea what could be wrong here?

I suspect a bad ground on the trailer.  Have you checked the resistance from the ground socket on the trailer plug to the frame of the trailer to see if the the ground wire has a break?
 
Could also be crud on/in the connector.  Try spraying with a contact cleaner then plug/unplug the connector several times.
