So I picked up an Rv  with a onan 4.0BFA  1800 rpm where's the oil filter ? I see in photos on google they are all on the front. But I don't see it any where?

Thanks

I had one of those.  As I recall the filter is visable right in the front of the generator.  What might be confusing you is that it is recessed and the top of the filter is flush with the panel.  You need a filter socket to remove it because it does not stand out from the generator.

At least that is how I remember it.

Good luck.  You will probably say later, "If it was a snake, It would have bit me"

Might as well buy an extra set of points and condensers too, as they are very hard on those. If this has been setting very long it probably needs the armature cleaned up and make sure the brushes move freely, as this generator uses the brushes and armature for starting, there is no starter. They were good generators but needed a bit more maintenance than the newer ones. Try to find a manual on line for it if you didn't get one with your purchase, it'll come in handy.
