We moved to SW Florida, had to go back at the end of October to close on our home we were selling in Texas.  Also found out our son was getting sworn in as an attorney having passed the bar.  Time was to be 2 weeks after the closing.  So how to doit.  After dog sitting costs of $50-75 a day, problems leaving dogs at a motel if we carried them with us, etc, we picked up a used Class C motorhome.

All equipment except leveling jacks worked, we are in business.  Added a tow dolly for the car, rear ciew camera (absolutely indespensible-$215 off Amazon) and off we go.  First night everything is fine, find water on the floor the next morning by the slide.  No, it hadn't rained.  Seems there is a leak in the flex hose connecting the sink drain to the tank.  Ok, so we use the bath sink till we get home.  But everything worked great, got the usual 7-8 mpg

Dogs rode well, would either set up on the couch and watch the world go by, or sleep.  They learned quickly not to go out the door without their leashes, waiting on us to go down the steps and take each leash and call each dog separately.

All in all, almost 3000 miles, visiting friends and kin, went well.  Some minor things are going to need to get fixed, like two of the levelers (may be able to do that myself).  We love our unit, looking forward to a spring trip up into the Smokies, fall trip across to Seattle.

Sounds like you made a good decision .  Your attitudes toward the non working items also makes for a less stressful time. May all of the problems be minor and fixable!

Well, our first RV was a used lightweight trailer.  Took the family to Disneyworld from DFW.  Te roof seams popped, ended up with a blue tarp over the roof in the campground.  But the kids had fun, and still remember the trip some 20 years later.  Just have learned not to sweat the small (or not so small) things.

Sounds like you had a great time. Our first trip with our Lady T was memorable but short. Just a quick long weekend to break her in and get familiar. Lots more fun to come.

~Enjoy
