Looking for first hand suggestions of places to overnight on I-10
Nice safe places for a family traveling with young kids

good Wal Marts
Cracker Barrels
etc....
or even nice State Parks that are right off the highway and not likely to be full.....

Where have you stayed that you might suggest?

Rayne, La.  has a nice park right at the exit.  That is just west of Lafayette.

Frog City RV Park
3003 Daulaut Drive
Duson, LA 70529

Perfect!  Looks very convenient.  Thanks!!

I'm not sure what our legs are going to look like.... depends on when we get going and where we stop to sightsee along the way.....  Hoping for a list of places like this.... and free ones too....

The best one night campground I've ever stayed in.

If you're looking for a great boondocking location, try exit 69 off I-10 in moss point, MS.  You can park in the Pilot truck stop for dinner, at the San Miguel Hacienda, for Mexican Food, then move over to the Cracker Barrel where you will have a nice quiet nights sleep, then wake up to some Pecan pancakes, eggs, bacon, baked apples and some good hot coffee.

There is a Waffle house, Moe's Mexican kitchen, Hardee's, McD's, etc. at this exit as well, so plenty of choices for the kids.  I've always found plenty of parking for a 37.5' unit with toad at this stop.  But I really go for the Mexican restaurant, then being too full to drive, park over at the Cracker Barrel to start the day out with an excellent breakfast.

Try Farr Equestrian Center just off the highway in Baton Rouge, LA.  $10.00 per night right along the Mississippi River.

We stayed there in 2007, it was $12/night then.  Don't bother if there's an LSU home game, they'll be full.  You have to climb up the levee to get to the river :)

I am making the reverse trip this coming week.  San Marcos, TX to Dunnellon, FL.  My stops will be:

1. Campground at Coushatta Casino Resort Kinder, LA.
2. St Bernard State Park (outside NOLA)
3. Blue Angels Recreation Park, Pensacola, FL (military)

on my travel west once i left New Orleans RV resort i landed here:http://houstoneastrvresort.com/rates.html entering texas,
Since i was traveling with babies i needed hookups to mostly full blast the AC and empty tanks before leaving and it was here when i needed to do laundry so it was perfect Plus a nice pool to chill.
the day after i made it all the way to San Antonio early enough to visit river walk. stayed at a lousy place for 22dlls a night but had hookups.
