I'm in the market for a 1995-1997 F250 with the diesel engine.

I realize this is a 'general' question,  but is there any issues to be aware of when using an older truck for towing?

Any components that should be replaced before towing like U-joints/shafts/bearings or such?

Or is it reasonable to assume that if the truck rides well, with no obvious defects, that it will be allright to use to tow the 5th wheel??

Thanks!!

Old is, well, old. The engine should be strong if it has been adequately maintained, but the transmission, drive line, etc. are anybody's guess.  Front suspension & steering is another area where wear and lack of maintenance can be a problem.  Guess I would check all moving parts for sloppiness and say a prayer or two. A trip to a front end shop might not be remiss before signing the check. Or immediately thereafter...
