Anybody know where the first two steps belong with respect to the others below?

- Connect the chassis/battery ground to the battery (it is professionally connected to the chassis already)
- Connect the chassis/inverter ground to the inverter (it is professionally connected to the chassis already)

- Insulate the ratchet handle using electrical tape
- Insulate the screwdriver using electrical tape
- Put rubber gloves on
- Connect the two batteries in series
- Prepare the positive wire, e.g. connect the breaker in series on two lengths of 12" #2 wire
- Ensure inverter is in dc disconnected mode, e.g. inverter/charger is neither charging nor inverting
- Hacksaw off the terminal on the positive cable going to the inverter
- Hacksaw off the terminal on the negative cable going to the inverter
- Ensure circuit breaker is OFF
- Connect the positive wire to the inverter
- Connect the negative wire to the inverter
- Connect the positive wire to the battery
- Ensure circuit breaker is OFF
- Connect the negative wire to the battery
- Flip breaker on
- Flip inverter to inverter mode
- Plug some ac device into the inverter
- Switch inverter to dc disconnected mode
- Flip breaker off

What exactly are you wanting to do here? It looks like you're trying to write a manual of some sort, but it's not clear from your post....

A bit of detail as to the nature and scope of your project might generate more replies.
