Looking for a decent place to stay any where between St. John and Amherst, NB so that we can see the tidal changes on our way to Halifax, NS.

Any suggestions?

Samantha

2 weeks ago, we stayed at Century Farm C/G in St Martin. (1-866-394-4400)  That tide change is unbelievable.  Take the Fundy Trail and check out the sand caves. Don't waste too much  time looking at the caves, the tide will sneak up on you real fast.  ;) The views are spectacular.
There is also a Provincial park further east next to Alma.  Alma is right on the water and it's a small fishing village. You'll see all the boats just sitting on the bottom at low tide.

(BTW, it's spelled Saint John, not St. John, I guess to differentiate between St. John's, NL)  There are two parks in St. Martins, NB.  Several in the Sussex area on the way to Moncton (no view of the ocean/tides there though).  The park near Alma is Funday National (not Prov) Park.  Campsites near the park HQ are within walking distance to allow you to see the affect of the tides in the fishing harbour of Alma.  Around the loop from Fundy Park toward Moncton there is a park near Hopewell Rocks - THE place to spend a day to see the difference between high and low tides.  Google and RVParky are your friend.

Thank you so much for the campground referral at St. Martin. That may just work!

Thanks, Krow...good info!! Have either of you stayed around Halifax? I have to pick my husband up late at the airport on Saturday night and trying to find a nearby campground...at least within an hour.

Yes, Renee, it's Fundy.  Sorry I can't help about Halifax.  We're new to camping and have never been down that way with our camper.

Here is a link to several in the Halifax area.  The closest to the Airport would likely be Dollar Lake, a fairly decent place, but it is back road most of the way from the airport.  Laurie Park is close too, a nice park, but we've never stayed there.
FWIW, Amherst is in Nova Scotia and not New Brunswick.  Once there, a scenic way to Halifax is via Parrsboro, and there too you will see amazing tides.  There are lots of campgrounds from Parrsboro to Truro, one nice on is in Five Islands, where you can walk on the sea floor when the tide is out.

If you have the time, you must go to the eastern part of NS and go to Cape Breton island and take the Cabot Trail.  Breath taking views.  185 miles long. Don't do it towing a trailer or with a large MH.  A small Class A or a small Class C would work.
