Yeap, primarily a plumbing access point that doubles as storage space. RV makers are seldom kind enough to put in access points simply for your future benefit, so that space was probably needed during assembly, e.g. to hook up those water lines. It looks as though there is under-floor access there too (the hole at the bottom).

I have a few areas sorta like that, where they built my cabinets around creating some "dead spaces".... nothing as spacious as that though!

well, yay for more storage... this thing has a ton of it, actually. It's nice, even though there's only the two of us.
