We just spent a great 8 days at Interlochen State Park (Michigan).  It is just across a road from the world famous Interlochen Center for the Arts.  In the summer students from around the U.S. and the world (must audition) come for 3 weeks workshops to hone their skills.  The last week of the 3 week cycle is filled every evening and during the day with both free and $$ concerts and performances.

Every evening we would ride our bikes across the street from the State Park to the Center to hear GREAT performances.  Some evenings we were able to get in both a 6pm and 8pm performance.  The campus is HUGE.

As you might tell this was the first time we did this.  We plan on doing it many times in the future.

I have a nephew who attended Interlochen High School. I visited him there in 2004 and stayed at the state park. Awesome campground, awesome concert and awesome school.

We live on the other side of the lake from the music camp.  Glad you enjoyed our part of Northern Michigan.  With all the lakes, Interlochen, Grand Traverse Bay, Sleeping Bear Dunes, etc., it's pretty special here.
