what do I need to do when towing my 98 sidekick with the key in the on position? will the points burn? battery drain? etc

I had this model (4x4) some years ago and I followed the manual that came with it for towing instructions. It towed fantastic. Get a good tow bar and attachment $$$ to make it easy to hitch up. I pulled with a 2003 class C Ford V10 and didn't think I needed a brake buddy. :-X I know better now that because it is ~2800 lbs I should have had a braking system to be legal and safe for me and others on the road.
