Anyone having trouble with GOOGLE?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone with an RV or an interest in RVing!

Did a little searching and there is a known issue with Google and they are working on a solution.  At least the post that I found sounds just like what you described.  They suggested a workaround for right now to type your Search word in the address bar and not directly in the Google text box.  If that does not work, you could just change your search engine to something besides Google.  Just make sure that you change your default search engine.

Again, to verify you are experiencing the issue with Google as described, I would manually enter a website in the address bar just to rule out malware on your system.

I had exactly the opposite problem today. I could search from the Google search box, but not the address bar.

I type in a subject and sometimes it will search and locate and other times it just sits there. Is it my laptop or Google?  I'd say it works good 50% of the time.

Some times, even with Chrome or any other navigators, we do have to reboot the computer if that happens... np with Google at all, it's the connection that does not happen or the computer or the user is out of memory !

Even now... it took me 4 times to have access to this forum ! I tought it could be my CHROME but no way, I could have access to any other links...
So computing works well with good timing between the users and the providers !
If one is too busy, you'll get poor service, that's it that's all.

Again, I would do the simple things first.
1. Clear your browser's cache and history.
2. Check to see what toolbars you have or have been installed without you knowing it.  I always get rid of toolbars like ASK which seems to get installed with other installs or updates and is considered malware by many.
3. Finally, I would flush the DNS cache.  It is possible that there is some issues with the IP addresses which are stored locally.  Remember your computer does not look at Google as a web site but as an IP address.  Try it.  Just enter http://74.125.224.72/ in the address bar and Google will pop up.

There have been many issues with IE and have personally found it to be slow and troublesome.  Microsoft is even dropping it and is now using Edge which has its own issues right now.  If you are running Windows 10, Edge may be your default browser now.  Personally, I've been using Firefox for years and have no plans on changing to anything else.

Bob, when I type in the word to search in Google and hit enter, nothing happens. The screen stays the same with the word showing. It doesn't even blink.
I clicked the settings button and "never show results" is not there/available.

This is very strange. Everyone in my office was screaming about 'no google search results'. The fix I applied worked for everyone.
Google is the same. Accessing search settings is either from the "settings" link in the lower right, or the "cog" (options) icon in the upper right.

Flushing out all of the cache might be a band aid fix for this.  There are a number of people also having an issue with this feature.  First I have heard of it but thanks for the heads up.  Just checked my settings and it was already turned off so probably why I have not encountered the issue.

I've had this happen a few times, as well.  Every time it has happened, the only way I could get the search to work was to close the browser completely and reopen.  I'm using Chrome with Windows 10.  Are all those experiencing using Windows 10 or is it on other OSs?

If you are using Google as your home page https://www.google.com, use this address and the Instant Search is always disabled. https://www.google.com/webhp?complete=0

I don't know about the others, but when I experienced it, it would not display search results AT ALL.  I could type in a search criterion and hit enter or click the search link and nothing would happen, just a blank page with the search criterion field still there.

Edit: I use Google for a home page (plus a couple more tabs).  The URL in my settings is "https://www.google.com/".

That is what others were stating when I did the search on what BinaryBob was mentioning.  You can go into the settings like he suggested, but if you do not allow cookies, the changes that you made revert back to the default of using Instant Search the next time you open your browser.  Thanks Google.  That is why they made the recommendation to use the URL that I listed so your default page, no matter what, disables Instant Search.  If you enter a search in the Google Toolbar and not the homepage, I assume it would use whatever settings are available at the time you opened your browser.  When I just changed from the "https://google.com" to the "https://www.google.com/webhp?complete=0",  I personally did not notice any difference but I have a high end computer and fast broadband service if that makes any difference.

It's a really bad idea to delete all cookies, or to block all cookies.  Do block 3rd party cookies but 1st party cookies are a big part of what makes using the web convenient.

Often when a page is misbehaving, a simple Ctl-F5 refresh to bypass the cache is all that's needed.

I think if you clear your cookie or totally disable them each time you try to log into your bank and other sites they will require that security code to be sent to your PC, so blocking all can really make you computer life even more miserable.

My thoughts of clearing history and the various cache would be if there was some corruption but there appears to be some other issues going on with Google right now and this Instant Search feature.  Since I have always had that off, guess never encountered it.  What we learn from this site.

No problem clearing cache and history.  The cache will be refilled as you visit your favorite web sites.  History clearing will just make recalling previous URLs less convenient, but you should be using bookmarks for frequently visited sites anyway.

It must have been a Google issue because it's been working great for me the last couple of days. How is it working for you Tom (MOLAKER)

I haven't noticed a problem for a couple of days now.  Although, I haven't done a lot of "Googling" during that time either.  Maybe Si, maybe No.
