These tips will work on any RV with the three basic components of sleeping, cooking and toilet facilities. They will guarantee to keep your pipes from bursting due to freezing weather. This method does not use that smelly pink stuff that has to be flushed out each year. Also included for no extra charge are ways to keep your rig warm all winter long with very little energy usage. Just follow these simple steps:

1. Find a walk behind gas powered snowblower. Take all non-essential inside parts off/out and throw them away. What you want left is a 15 footer. From 15 feet it looks like a snow blower.

2. Put the snow blower shell on the roof of your RV. Strap it down well so it doesn't accidentally fall off and hurt someone.

3. Fill the RV fuel tanks with fuel, fill the water tank with fresh clean potable water and empty all gray and black water tanks. Open and close all valves in the water system to make sure they are not corroded in place. Replace and leaking or questionable valves and fittings.

4. Drive to the closest large freeway with an entrance sign that says "South". Take that entrance and drive.

5. Drive a comfortable number of miles each day, stopping often for fuel, food, potty stops, naps, etc. Talk to the locals and don't be afraid to spend some time getting to know them. A common topic of conversation will be how on earth did you get that heavy snow blower on the roof. Feel free to explain that it's a 15 footer and that you've taken out all those heavy unnecessary parts inside.

6. Visit all the tourist sites on your way. Take small detours to see the biggest ball of string, the worlds largest potatoe (a salute to the schoolteacher who made Dan's cue card) and the waterfalls, canyons, rock formations along the way. Talk to more locals, have breakfast, lunch and dinner with the friendly folks, try the local cuisine.

7. Every morning make sure the fuel and water tanks are full and the grey and black tanks are empty, then find the freeway sign that says 'South' and take that entrance. Don't forget to stop often for needed breaks and socializing. Winterizing is hard work and you should take you time and do it right.

8. Sooner or later you're going to find a local who doesn't ask about how you "got the snowblower" on the roof. Instead they'll ask "what is that thing on your roof?" Start counting. That person is number 1.

9. Keep taking the entrances that say 'South', exploring new places and talking to locals. When you count 5 people that have asked what that thing on your roof is, find a place that your RV fits nicely, the neighbors are friendly and your lounge chair fits under your awning. You may need to scout around a little to find exactly the right space. Sometimes the town you're in hasn't got the right space for your rig. In which case, find the nearest 'South' sign and go to the next burg. Set up your campsite, check out the neighbors and particularly make sure the sun hits your lounge chair at the correct time of day. You may need to adjust the rig once or twice to get the angles exactly right. Once you're sure that everything is set to your satisfaction, check the calendar and make payment at the campground office to compensate them until at least April 1.

10. Push the snowblower off the roof and take the pieces to the dumpster. It has finished it's useful life.

11. Now your winterizing is complete.

12. To de-winterize your rig in the spring, simply look for signs that say 'North'.

That's the way I do it and I've not worried about a frozen pipe in years.

ha, I love it...I would only add that if you plan on finding new place(s) to spend next winter you might want to cut down on winterizing costs by saving the snowblower shell and use it as a planter until you return home.  Thereby providing you with years of guidance for free.
