We've got a 32' Class C and plan to tow a 3100 lb 2003 Camry on a dolly.  The Dolly does have electric brakes and the RV is wired for them, but does not have a brake controller installed.  Some have said that the electric brakes aren't required, that towing without them is fine.  I question that, what's the wisdom on using electric brakes on the tow dolly.  Also, what controllers are the best?

Thanks,

The Millers.

Any extra braking is a good thing.  Most states require it if what you are towing is over a certain weight.  I have had Tekonsha controllers and would have no problems recommending them. To answer your question directly,  yes I would hook up the brakes and use them.

Any extra braking is good, whether for a tow dolly or a towed car.  The biggest use is to prevent jack-knifing in sudden stops.  You don't want the dolly to ram the motorhome either.
