My TC, noted in my signature, is about 13-14 years old.  I have owned it for 2 years.  The Atwood electric jacks work fine, but they make a noise that sounds like there may be chips in the gear teeth. The noise is more pronounced when the jacks are loaded than when I am just retracting or extending the legs. The jacks seem to lift just fine and don't slip or jam.

I took the cover off the top of one of the jacks to see if there was a way to check/repair/lubricate the gear train, but the whole gear train seems to be enclosed in a plastic casing.  DW and I have a cross country trip planned for the spring. We will be stopping here and there and will want to be able to take the TC of the pickup sometimes, so we can go sightseeing in the pickup.

My questions are:

Should I be concerned about the noises I hear?

Is there a way I haven't discovered to dismantle, repair or lubricate the gear train?
Having priced new jacks, I would rather maintain what I have than replace them. Am I just a worrywart?

Thank,
Tom
