I will be going out west with my two daughters ages 15 & 12 and without a toad and am looking for a campground close to the arch for a night or two to take in that attraction. I understand it is not much but it is close. I was wondering if anyone who stayed there had any security concerns.. Thanks!

That's fine when you are home, but you have to get across the river and downtown from there. A shame you won't have a toad because the park at St Peter is a fabulous place, and you could catch public trans, but it is out about 20 miles. A rental car maybe?

Being from St Louis, you might have some locals raise their eyebrows on that park but it is pretty standard for an inner city RV park.

We considered it when we were there last year and I drove out there, but it was a little too industrial for me and there were complaints about big rigs being hard to park.

Anyway, St Louis might be one of the best vacation values in the Midwest and it's a great place to visit. Do not miss the Zoo!

If you choose it, just elevate your personal safety radar (from an ex-law enforcement officer) and daytime and you should be fine.  8)

We stayed at the casino across from the Arch. It is in East St. Louis, IL but it was ok. The RV park had a security patrol. We felt safe. There is a station to catch the train close by. It can take you to the arch, ball park, and other parts of the area. Have fun on the trip...

I stayed there a couple nights last fall.  Just a gravel parking lot with hookups.  I didn't have any security concerns in the park.  Would still likely need a cab to get to the Arch, though.

If I tried to walk that stretch then I WOULD have had security concerns.
