How track travels on an "interactive" map?
« on: April 06, 2016, 10:30:44 AM »
Anyone know of software, map app, or whatever that would help us keep track of where we've been with the option of having "links" for each location to go to photos or something we've written about our experience there?

Google Maps is free and it will do all that and more.

I would like to apologize to anyone I have not yet offended. Please be patient and I will get to you shortly.

I set up a "my maps" on google to record our trip log
basically a private map
with "thumb tacks" at each location, and attached to each thumbtack I record name of the place, dates, and I keep a running tally of nights slept in the RV.  I haven't played with photos, or with making something look "publishable" but I wouldn't be surprised if you could do just that

Travelpod http://www.travelpod.com/#highlights is free and you can use your computer or an app on your tablet or phone to record your experiences. You can set up maps of everywhere you've been interactively with your writing. It's out there for anyone to see though, as a blog, unless you upgrade for a fee, though I don't know how much.

Have a look at RV Parky.  It has a journal feature that you can complete for each location.

I recently have done something different.
Used the following:
Google Maps
Google Earth
UMap - open source
Now back to Google maps with a twist.

So check it out, click on the balloon and see what happens, especially in SC, Tn and Ky
