Folks who are here at the rally, and we have 22 couples attending, will be posting their favorite mammal, bird/waterfowl, landscape and general interest photos here this week. For those posting, let us know where (if you remember) you got your shot so others can swing through and maybe see what you saw.

We hope the rest of the Framily can live vicariously through them and enjoy YNP from afar.

Normally, the rally picture comes at the end, but to honor Steve Thum's toad, a 1926 Ford Model T, which will tour the park, we took it the first night!

Special thanks to Larry N (Larry Nussbaumer) who set up the shot.

Kim

Here are some pix from yesterday's meeting. First is Kim addressing the group with his "dog and pony show." Second is the group listening. Finally is Steve Thum's Model T without folks around it -- neat stuff.

Hey  I know many of you!  Great idea to post your fav photos!  Wish  I were there!

The most interesting part of this conversation is that it was Betty Brewer who said at our first Moab Rally in 2011 that we just had to go to Yellowstone that year. We were there a week later. For two months.

And then did again. For two months, in 2013.

The rest is history.  8)

Betty, we bow to you.....

Being a bit beyond the use-your-cell-phone-to-take-a-picture-of-everything age, we missed our opportunity when one of our dogs helped a mom and son kill a mouse which had snuck into the bed of their pickup truck. The son was poking at it with a ski pole as we were walking by. 30 seconds later the mouse was in our dog's mouth, dead.

We then went on to look at some gysers. All in a day's work for Squid. (that's her name)

It was rainy and dreary today. With the snow melt and the rain, the rivers are really roaring. Kevin's knee was giving him fits this morning so we decided to go to the Lamar valley through Mammoth and Tower. Wow! We saw hundreds of bison (dozens of calves, one so new mom was still licking it off), 12 mountain sheep, 9 bears (really! - 2 single adults, 2 sows with a single cub each, and 1 sow with twins), around 100 elk and about the same number of pronghorn, 2 marmots, 3 owlets tucked into a cliff side nest, a sandhill crane (unexpected), and a bird we are pretty sure is a ptarmigan. Oh, and a wolf ran across the road immediately in front of us! Multi-colored with a radio collar. Most of the pictures are on a memory card and we didn't bring a computer to download them, but I did snap a few with the iPhone. Note the tiny flowers are definitely brightening up the meadows too.

On the way out Old Faithful this morning, a coyote was having trouble deciding how to cross the road.

At Biscuit Basin, the pools, including Mustard Spring we really colorful as the sun started peaking out.

The mountain blue bird was a little outside the lens length but was a blue as blue can be. They flit so much they are hard to catch.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.  :p

I think we ran into that same raven last year.  It chased my mother-in-law around the Jeep trying to get her to share her sandwich. ;D

Thanks for sharing the pics guys.  We'll be heading out first thing in the morning so don't hog all of the wildlife pictures, save some for us.

Mike.

For those reading along;

If I may speak for the group here, the pictures everyone is posting do not do justice to the experience of standing on the precipice overlooking a canyon, or along side a roaring valley stream, or driving through the wide open grassy plain with wildlife close and far. Being here in person is hard to explain in words. The pictures fall very short of the views. Its the combination of crisp mountain air, the clear morning sun, the sounds of the wildlife, and the shared awe of fellow travelers when you see one of the countless offerings YNP has to offer. The place is truly amazing.

YNP should be on everyone's bucket list.
