On Tuesday, we wanted to be sure Steve and Dee Falchini got their bear, and we did well out towards Tower Falls and then towards Lamar Valley.

A momma black bear with two cubs, the cubs scampering up and down a tree while momma grubbed, then a black bear on a bison carcass.

Because it was lunch time, we found a kestrel working on some recently expired prairie rodent.

While everyone else has been wandering the park for shots of bear, bison, and gysers, we have been stuck at the campground for various reasons. But that didn't stop Diane from getting some cool wildlife pics of her own.

Enter the Fox!

That's just dandy! I got a picture of what I claimed was a coyote because of the long shot, angle, and light, and Christi and Jimmie Kay Fisher have been claiming all along it was a fox that ran between our cars the other day as we left the RV park.

And to add insult to injury, our coach in the background.

What wine goes good with crow?

Nice pics, folks. Keep them coming.

I'll probably take some time today to resize some of the pics I took. Nothing spectacular, but still...it's YELLOWSTONE!

Magnificent vistas around every corner.

Here's a few from Tuesday. The first one is a bear jam, half way between the West Gate and Monmouth Hot Springs.

Great shots everyone.  All we saw Monday was half the parks population of buffalo.  We can share some buffalo shots if you like.  However I'm sure most of you have many of your own.  On Tuesday, we drove through the Lamar Valley to Cooke City and back.  Saw a few things that haven't been posted yet.  On the way, we saw a young eagle enjoying a morsel on the highway.  Didn't know what it was until it took off.  The feathers on it's head were just starting to turn white.  Unfortunately we only got one shot.  Coming back from Cooke City we saw some mountain goats that looked like white dots on the side of the mountain.  Maria used her new Nikon P610 which has an electronic zoom.  They're a bit fuzzy but identifiable.  The P610 has a 60x zoom and it really requires a tripod to use effectively at max range.  We also saw what we thought were two wolves which looked a lot like your Coyote Kim.  A bit later we got a few snaps of that black bear enjoying the remains of the carcass.  We finally spotted what appeared to be a young grizzly which made our day.  Other than that, a few elk and prong horns.  Pix to follow.

Gary,

I saw Maria's shots of the mountain goats already on Facebook and am hugely jealous as we have never seen them here. Kudos!

(Tripods are your friend - how I got the good bear on carcass pics...)

Kim

Now a few with the Nikon P610 with a 60x digital zoom.

Thanks Kim.  I've had the problem before.  First time I missed one pix that was more than 350 kb.  Next time I don't know what happened.  But persistence pays off.
